The State of Texas has designed a program to identify individuals who may need assistance if an emergency arises near their home and evacuation is required. What type of emergency? A wildfire, flooding, hazardous spill or explosion are good examples. We hope these events never happen but if they do Tom Green County is now participating in this program!
WHO SHOULD SIGN UP? Everyone! Perhaps you no longer drive or do not own a car. Is there a physical or mental condition that could prevent you from evacuating your home? If you would like emergency personnel to be aware that you may need assistance if there was a crisis in your area then you should sign up!
WHAT DOES IT COST? Free!
WHAT INFORMATION DO YOU NEED TO PROVIDE? Basic information is required—name, address, phone number and primary language. Additional information such as transportation issues and medical equipment requirements may be provided. The more information the emergency personnel have, the better they can assist you if the time comes. This information will need to be renewed yearly.
WHO WILL HAVE ACCESS TO YOUR INFORMATION? This information is only accessible by approved local emergency personnel and State of Texas Custodians.
HOW DO I SIGN UP? The simplest way is to call 2-1-1 and register by phone or if you prefer you may fill out the registration form that can be emailed or faxed. If you have additional questions you may call Sandi Kenney, Administrative Assistant to Judge Mike Brown. 325-653-7329.
